I would write to yr. Hambleton and advise
and
him to register his claim in this office, but I understand
that he has left Mexice, and I do not know his pregént
address. I would have telegraphed to Mr. Vice-Consul Scobell,
to ask for Mr. Hambleton'a address, but I am informed by the
Federal Ťalep raph office that there is no telegraphic comain=
ication with Chihuahua.
As regards Captain Blunt's statement that some
of the Chiness murdered in Torreon were British subjects from
Hongkong, I have received no official information of this, and
if it is true, I presume that such Chinese had no papers to
prove that they were British subjects.
I have the honour to be.
sir.
Your most obedient,
humble Sorvant,
SIGNED, C. E W. STRINGLA
P. S. I am writing to T. Vice-Consul Scobell instructing
him, if he can communicate with Mr. Hambleton, to advise that gentleman to file his claim in this Consulate-General.
